Grape to Shelf Consulting Ltd specialises in providing technical support to the wine trade. As a small business we can adapt to ensure our work fits in with your business and requirements. Support can be in the form of a one off consultation, a more in depth involvement, within the scope of a project, or as an ongoing service.

What we do 

Grape to Shelf Consulting work for wine producers, contract packers, wine agents, retailers, government bodies and anyone else in need of support or technical expertise. We have extensive knowledge and experience working in the final processes of the finishing and packaging of wine, such as:

  • Optimisation of product quality.
  • Selection of packaging format/s encompassing quality, safety, and sustainable considerations.
  • Implementation of due diligence requirements.
  • Trouble shooting: root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Background

Grape to Shelf Consulting was started by Jenny Bond in 2006. It followed her time working as the Technical Manager for Beers, Wines and Spirits at Somerfield where she saw how product quality can be adversely affected during the packaging and shipping of wine. 

Prior to Somerfield, Jenny worked for Angela Muir MW at Cellarworld International (CWI) as their permanent winemaker. This role took her to wineries across the globe including Chile, Cyprus, France, Hungary, Italy, Moldova, Slovenia, and Spain. CWI was focused on making wine more saleable by improving quality through improved production processes. 

Jenny studied winemaking at Lincoln University in New Zealand where she also undertook special studies in Sustainable Viticulture. This linked with her original degree from Wye College, London University in Agriculture and the Environment. She's a BRC trained third party auditor and has HACCP level 3 training. Her training is kept up to date - something she considers key for any technical role. 

Jenny was President of Performance Bag in Box, a Global organisation whose objective was to further the scientific understanding of the technical performance and environmental impact of Bag-in-Box. She has carried out in-depth studies into bulk shipping and glass lighting, and more recently worked closely with businesses specialising in supplying quality wine in cans. 

Jenny is the current Chairperson for the Wine and Spirit Trade Association Technical Committee.
